I know you are eager to get in and start the technical nitty gritty, but you need to establish the foundations first. A solid start is going to make the difference between success and failure.
Trust me! I was once like you and I wanted to just take little snippets out without looking at the big picture. Now I am a successful Internet Marketer after much trial and error.
The bread is what matters, not the crumbs!
It’s time to take a step back and plan out. You need a birds eye view of what’s going on. Maybe you’re making money online, maybe you're not, but having a goal is something EVERYONE needs to have. As cliché as this sounds, visualising your goals works!.
Get yourself some paper and a pen right now. (Make sure this is nice so you can stick it up on your wall.)
I want you to write down some goals. Write down your short and long term goals. Not only that but I want you to write down what it will take to achieve these goals you have chosen.
Short Term Goals are you want this year to be. Think about how you want to have this time next year. Think about something you can strive towards in the now.
Long Term Goals are grander (Not to be confused with New Year's resolutions). Close your eyes, take a deep breath and relax in your seat. Imagine what your life could be at the apex, how more success in your life can take you there.
Long Term Goals are visions of what you desire and cherish the most. You CAN get there if you keep that vision in your mind.
Goals are the lifeblood of success. Learn it, Live it, Love it!
Once you have written your goals down, put them somewhere you will look every day. You can even set your goals as a wallpaper. You need to visualize them as much as possible to stay motivated.
You can look to the group for motivation but the best way is looking at your goals in the morning when you first wake up. You re-light your fire thinking about how you are going to get there every day
Branding! This is the first major step in taking your online business to the next level. You need to figure out how you want people to see you.
Do you want to be more personal with the brand or have a team? Some people think you have to pick either one or the other.
You can have both and do it well. However when you are getting started building your reputation, I would suggest using your personal name as your brand (or a persona like lots of other marketers do).
This is a good idea because in the future your name will carry weight. As you build your brand, your reputation rises with it
Tonight, I want you to come up with your brand name. Perhaps even get creative and build yourself a logo in Canva. Canva is a free tool that allows you to create logos, social media graphics and more really quickly. Its easier than using paint. Just select a template and work from there.
Don't spend more than 30 - 40 mins on this. This isn't something that is set in stone and it can be adjusted in the future. Some people are afraid of this, but really, nearly every brand will redesign or change at some stage in their life span, don't believe me? Take a look at this image.
Establishing your brand and logo is going to come in handy for our next lesson where we learn how to build a high converting opt in page.
An opt in page will help you collect emails and leads from potential customers and build what we call a list.
Even if you don’t have a product yet, follow along because building hype is one of the best marketing tactics you can do. Plus you can also sell other things to them if you wish in the meantime (affiliate marketing)
Now that we have established our brand we need to start collecting leads! (potential clients) But how can we do that?
First we need to build our opt in page. (don’t worry you can steal our page at the end!)
We want to collect leads, potential customers name and email address. This way we can let them know about your services, offers and more that you have coming later.

Clickfunnels includes the cost of hosting, Its easy to setup, manage, create pages and test your changes. PLUS we can expand on it later. We will need this when we turn our membership site into an affiliate site so OTHER people can market FOR YOU.
This is the easiest way to start out for people who don’t want to waste time on the technical side of things.

To show you how easy it is, we will be making a “Coming Soon” email opt in page so you can notify your users when you release your products, courses or services.
Later on in the course, we will show you how to use baits and giveaways to increase opt-ins.
Right now you need to get something up ASAP. There is no reason why you can’t get this page running before anything else.
Let’s get started building our opt in page. This is where your potential customers will be giving you their Name and Emails.
Once you sign up to Clickfunnels you will be greeted by a screen like this.
From here you need to click “New Funnel” on the bottom right hand side of the screen. It will then ask you what you want to do. You are going to select “Collect Emails”. Create a name and then it will take you to a screen where you can select a template.
You need to remember this is NOT a website. This is just a simple page where you have pre-told someone about it and you want them to opt in. You want to make it as simple and as to-the-point as possible.
I ended up picking this template
I chose this one is because it’s close to my brand image. However, it needs some modifications! Just click and play around now on some of the elements. Drag them around to where you see fit. Don’t be scared, you won’t break anything!
We need edit this headline as the current one won’t really convert. You need something that matches what you are going to offer your customer in your niche.
Headlines can make or break a product, but don’t worry. You can always test your headlines to see which one gets more opt-ins.
I have compiled a list of trigger words here that you can use to build something that converts. If you need inspiration just look at https://www.passiveliving.net/trigger-words-list/
We also need to change that button from Blue to Orange (this orange to be exact #FFA91C) because it converts the best right now.
After a while this is what I came up with. (PS: you can actually just copy this template here)
As you can see I also added my logo to it because I want people to start remembering the brand. A brand needs 12.5 impressions to earn brand trust, so getting the logo in here is just the start.
Now that we have finished the opt in page, we need to make a thank you page. After you have saved your opt in, you will be brought to this screen.
On the left you will see the section that says thank you, click that then select your template again.
This is what we have come up with.
Now that we have finished our thank you page, there is one more step to do. You need to integrate your email autoresponder with Clickfunnels. For this I suggest Mailchimp. Mailchimp lets you have up to 2000 leads and can send 12000 emails per month for free. This is the best way to start off. After you have integrated Mailchimp, you can now start sending people to your page. You can get the link for your opt in page from here:
Start building your list with people and traffic sources you know. In the next lesson we will be going over how to setup a basic email sequence in Mailchimp, so you can automate your responses and keep your list engaged.
Now we have our opt in page setup and ready, it’s time to send some automated emails.
The reason why we need to do this is to nurture our email list we are building. If we don’t send emails, our leads will eventually lose interest in what we are offering.
We keep their interest by setting up what is called an email sequence. Now this can get super advanced and technical, however I’m going to show you the easiest way to do it using Mailchimp. There is other software out there such as the Clickfunnels Eitson suite, but when you are starting out Mailchimp offers a list of 2000 emails for free and 12,000 emails per month. This is amazing for getting started.
However, before we start with the emails, we have to write a sequence. Now, there is lots of debate on what an email sequence should be and how often they should be sent.
I prefer to send one email every few days but this is a HUGE amount of work. When you are just starting out, one email per week will be fine. Some interaction is better than none at all!
This is the perfect opportunity to start generating hype!
So open up a document and start writing. With the first email I tend to introduce myself and the goals for my business. You can also direct your leads to another form of contact, such as a facebook page, group or even reach out directly to make contact.
If you are struggling with this, just look at what we are doing and replicate it for your own business.
Now that we have written up a few weeks worth of email sequence, how do we automate sending email in Mailchimp? It’s actually quite easy.
Simply log into Mailchimp and click the Create Campaign button and then select Email. There is a top bar that says Regular, Automated, Plaintext and A/B Test. Select Automated and then click Welcome New Subscribers
Here you need to set a campaign name. Be aware this is public when people unsubscribe, so make sure it’s relevant. Select your list and this will bring you to the automation screen.
It’s pretty easy from this screen. All you need to do to add emails is click “Add Email”. From here you just need to change the delay and and edit each email how you see fit.
After you are done all that is left is to click Save and Exit at the top right. It will ask you to finish the automation after that and then your emails will be sending once someone joins your list!
See, wasn’t that easy?

Now that you have your warming email sequence setup, it’s time to figure out what products you are going to sell and what upsell you are going to provide with it.
The products I like to sell are either education or something that solves a problem. The goal is to sell products that scratch the itch of your customers.
The thing is with an itch, about 90% of the time you can only scratch it once. This is important when it comes to your up selling.
Let me set you an example
Let’s say you have a some courses or guides you want to sell and it’s about ‘How to get Traffic to your Blog’. So you know your customer is interested in more traffic, why don’t we upsell them our ‘Top 20 Secret Traffic Sources’ as well?
Because we have already scratched their itch, we can offer the customer a little more satisfaction.
Upselling relies on offering another product or service complementing the original purchase. Car dealerships do this all the time!
When you buy a new car, you get insurance to protect the entire car, You get headlight protectors, floor mats, window tint and more. The list could go on forever!
Let’s go through some more examples of upsells with physical products.

As you can see there really is many things you can sell to a customer when you scratch their itch! If you get stuck on what to upsell, just ask in the group.
But I know what you’re asking, can’t I just sell more of the same thing?
This is best practice when it’s CONSUMABLE. Products like food, diet pills, pen refills etc. Here they are scratching an itch, but if they are offered a deal on other products at the same time, they will be happy to purchase the upsell.
The best advice I can give to people is do something you love. If you are trying to grow and scale something you hate, it will never grow how you expect it to. For me I LOVE to help people and like to see their results (that’s why you get this for free). That’s why I turned the information I have been telling people over and over again into these courses.
If you really can’t think of anything, think about what you are talking to your friends. Find that passion you have where you just HAVE to tell someone everything about it. Dedicating yourself to learning about that product and you will become an expert on it. Once you are an expert, then you can teach others about it.
There are people out there that just want to learn about what you have to tell them and most of the time they are willing to pay you for it!

Now comes the time where we build your actual membership site. By now you should have a good idea on how to use Clickfunnels. They have a ton of great membership template, but here is what we feel works best for us. If you don’t want to recreate it yourself, we have created a version you can just download straight from us and modify in less than 30 mins here: https://snapt.io/passivememberfunnel
You can use this funnel to either setup a course, private group or you can edit it to be more for products. You just need to change that final page titled “Membership Area”
If you prefer to DIY your own from scratch, follow on so you can understand the format we use.
This is our first page of our membership funnel. This is what we call a VSL page. VSL stands for Video Sales letter. So where the image is in the left you would change that to a video of some sort to promote your product. We don't really need too much information on this page other than the order form as we only want to send people from our email list here (aka hot traffic). If you wanted to send cold traffic to the page also, you would need to explain to them your offer or product in depth or create what is called a long form sales page. Simply put you would have more information on the page. Exactly how Clickfunnels has their main page.
The next page in the sequence is a Thank You page. After they order your membership they will be direct here. This is where you can offer them an OTO (one time offer) or something else to compliment your membership pack. Make sure you use the strategies we talked out earlier in the course to help you up sell. This is the perfect opportunity to try something higher ticket as you know they are prepared to spend money with you.
Now we have the last 2 pages of the funnel. They are the membership login and membership pages. These are pretty straight forward. You can set them to a page with resources and private facebook group, check their order status, course, you name it. I would also suggest offering some extra value here and engage with each person to make them feel like a valuable customer.
After you have swiped this funnel, you simply need to edit your product into the funnel, set your price and fill out the “Launch Checklist”

This is where you setup your domain, setup stripe to take credit card payments and setup secure SSL (and I suggest this because it will increase conversion)
If you are unhappy with this template, you can actually look through the cookbook that Clickfunnels has to find something that will match. There are some great ones here but they will all need to be edited in some way.
Now all that is left to do is to start sending traffic. For this we suggest using Udimi (get $5 credit free if you use this link), Facebook Ads and Google Ads, however we will have a guide on this coming very soon!
